The ways to identify and investigate compliance violations and corporate fraud

Kept study. Part III

Kept presents the results of the third stage of a regular study on priorities for the compliance functions development in Russia and Belarus in 2023. The topic of the third part of the publication is “The ways to identify and investigate compliance violations and corporate fraud”.

Due to the fact that we include issues on the organization and effectiveness of hotlines in each compliance study, we see the evolution of this tool in Russia and Belarus. For example, we cannot fail to note a constant increase in the share of relevant messages received by the hotline , which, among other things, may be related to the fact that more and more companies see the effectiveness of its work.

For the first time in this study, we included issues related to the conduct of internal audits and investigations . And since the tasks related to these issues make up a significant amount of divisions' work that ensure the compliance of companies with legislation and their economic security, we hope that the results of our research will be of practical benefit to them.

Let us remind you, that in 2023 we've changed the approach to collecting responses in our study. The survey was conducted in three stages during the year. The results of the first (“Profile of a modern compliance specialist”) and second (“Compliance practices: counterparty due diligence and other compliance risk minimization measures”) stages are available from the links below.
