Methodology

Russia's five most populated cities and the capitals of selected CIS and South Caucasus countries were chosen to compare the technological development of urban environments. Three major global metropolises that most frequently top similar studies were also added, to compare the performance of the above cities against international best practice: London (57,4), Singapore (56,6) and New York (55,3). 

The ranking consists of five key categories comprising characteristics of various aspects of smart city life:

Kept developed a list of indicators for these groups, based on a review of international practice for similar research studies and the availability of source data for the cities of the CIS and South Caucasus.
